Episode 63 – Sursock Museum

Sursock Museum is one of the most prominent museums in Beirut. It represents an important landmark of the city’s cultural scene. Not only does it have a distinct architecture, but also an impressive interior. In this episode, Rana takes us a journey down memory lane, recounting how the museum evolved from being a beautiful palace to hosting local and international art exhibitions then being unfortunately hit by the Beirut blast.

Sursock Museum for modern and contemporary art aims at preserving and showcasing local and international works. In addition to the numerous exhibitions (Ma‘ared is the plural form of Ma‘rad, which means exhibition) that are organized every year in this museum, you can also participate in workshops for kids, movie screenings, art discussions, or if you are lucky like I am, a book signing.
