خالد: أنا ما تعبت أدك، معود عالتنزه بالطبيعة أو الـhike متل ما we call it بالإنكليزي. وبعرف محمية أرز الباروك من قبل، كتير بحب زورا. بس اليوم، أكتر شي انبسطت إنو اجتمعنا بأصحابنا بعد ما كان إلنا زمان مش شايفينن. أول مرة بتعملي hike رنا؟
Khaled: I did not get as tired as you did. I am used to hiking, and I already knew the Barouk Cedars Reserve. I really love visiting it. But the most thing I rejoiced in today was getting together with our friends after we had not seen them for a long time. Is this the first time you hike Rana?
رنا: لأ، مش أول مرة، بس قليل لروح هيك مشاوير. رايحة من قبل عمحمية الأرز بمنطقة بشري، بتشبه اللي رحنا عليا اليوم. بس محمية أرز الشوف هي الأكبر من نوعا بلبنان، وبتمتد من منطقة ضهر البيدر لجبل نيحا حد منطقة جزين بالجنوب. مساحة غاباتا حوالي 160 كلم مربع، وفيا ربع غابات الأرز الباقية بلبنان. إلا هالمحمية من سنة 1996؛ وبعدا بـ9 سنين، بالـ2005، أعلنتا منظمة اليونيسكو مع الضيع الـ22 اللي حواليا كمحمية محيط حيوي بتغطي مساحة 500 كلم مربع، يعني تقريبًا 5% من مساحة لبنان. إنت بتعرف إنو فيا غابات كتيرة غير غابة الباروك؟ أهما: غابة أرز عين زحلتا وغابة أرز معاصر الشوف. بس الباروك هي الأكبر بيناتن!
Rana: No, it is not the first time, but it is rare that I go on such trips. I have been before to the cedars reserve in the Bsharri area, which looks like the one we visited today, but the Chouf Cedars Reserve is the biggest of its kind in Lebanon and extends from Dahr El Baydar area to Niha mountain near Jezzine area in the South. Its forests’ area is about 160 km², and it contains quarter of the remaining cedar forests in Lebanon. This reserve has been there since the year 1996, and after nine years in 2005, the UNESCO declared it along with the 22 villages around it as a biosphere reserve covering an area of 500 km², which means approximately 5% of the area of Lebanon. Did you know that it has many forests other than the Barouk forest? The most important ones are: Ain Zhalta Cedar Forest and Maaser El-Chouf Cedar Forest, but the Barouk is the largest between them!
