During my university years, I had a foreign friend studying in Lebanon, and her Arabic language skills were modest. This means she was still learning the language and developing herself in it, especially through conversations with friends and social visits. I very much loved how she used to speak Arabic without being ashamed of making a mistake, and she used to tell me, “If I do not speak in front of you and make mistakes, and then you correct for me, how would I learn?”

وبيوم من الإيام، بين مجموعة طلاب بباحة الجامعة، قالت هالعبارة بعد ما شافت صبي صغير عم يلعب عمقعد خشب لحالو، “هيدي الصبي الصغيرة شو عم تعمل هون؟”
And one day, between a group of students on the university campus, she said this expression after she saw a little boy playing alone on a wooden bench, “(Haydeh is the feminine This) This little boy, what is she doing here?”
