Plastic waste is a global problem that is growing by the day. Discarded plastic items are polluting cities, rural areas, rivers, and seas. Like most countries around the world, Lebanon is generating more plastic waste than it can properly recycle or manage. In this episode Mariam discusses the challenges of plastic waste globally and within Lebanon. She also tells us about various initiatives to address this urgent problem.

إذا وقفنا شي مرة خلال النهار، وفكرنا أديش في بلاستيك حوالينا، بكل شي منستعملو يومياً، رح نتأكد من الدراسات، اللي بتقول، إنو البلاستيك هو أرخص وأكتر مادة مستخدمة، بالعالم اليوم. بقولو، إذا مش مصنوعة من بلاستيك، فهي مغلّفة، أو محمولة ببلاستيك.
If we stop sometime during the day to think about how much plastic is surrounding us in everything we use daily, we will be sure of the studies stating that plastic is the cheapest and most used material in the world nowadays. They say, if it is not made of plastic, it is wrapped with or carried in plastic.
