Episode 18 – Folktales from once upon a time

Grandma and grandchild sharing a story

Folktales and other story telling traditions are found all over the world. Lebanese culture is especially rich with folktales that have been passed down for generations. Often, these folktales evolve with each generation’s telling. In this episode, Dareen shares with us three folk tales from her childhood which she grew up listening to and that still have deep meaning for her.

Hello. This is Dareen. Today’s episode is very special and dear to my heart. I will not be surprised if my eyes tear while I am narrating it because it has a big part of my childhood and memories. Our episode today is about old folktales, which people have passed on from one generation to another, and the old have heard them just as the young are hearing them.

Marhaba! ("Hi"!)
