Months and seasons

The names of months and seasons of the year are used a lot in Lebanese conversations. We talk about them when discussing and planning trips, outings, events, and work. They also feature heavily when we discuss the weather. In this episode, Mariam introduces us to the Lebanese Arabic names of months and seasons and tells us proverbs about each month.

Hello again Language Wave listeners. I am Mariam, and in our episode today we will together learn the months and seasons of the year in an interesting way that will surely stick in your memory.

 من نحنا وصغار بلبنان بقولولنا بكتاب الجغرافية بالمدرسة “لبنان يتمتع بطقس معتدل وأربعة فصول في السنة”. يعني وحدة من مميزات موقع لبنان الجغرافي إنو عندو طقس معتدل وأربع فصول بالسنة واللي هني الصيف، الخريف، الشتا، والربيع.

Ever since we were kids in Lebanon, they would always tell us in the geography book at school “Lebanon has a moderate weather and four seasons per year”. This means that one of the characteristics of Lebanon’s geographic location is that it has a temperate weather and four seasons per year, which are summer, autumn, winter, and spring.
